New Apps: 8/10/13

  • Bad Piggies; This is a game. What you're supposed to do is build a car type thing out of the pieces they give you. Then you have to try to get your pig across the finish line. You can get up to three stars by collecting special boxes, getting your pig across the finish line, and finishing under a certain time. I haven't decided if I like it or not, but I think it might be worth a try.
  • Echograph; Another photo editing app. But I think this one is different. You take a picture and video of the the same thing. Then you select a part of the picture you want to add the video to. For example, you take a picture and video of a waterfall. You just select the area of the waterfall, and suddenly, you have a moving waterfall picture. If that still sounds a little confusing, check out their website here, and try it out for yourself.
  • Heyku; I just found this app this morning and thought it sounded cool. You just use the app to share your thoughts. Sounds kinda like Twitter, right? Well this one you do in the form of a haiku, which is a 3 lined poem. I loved writing haikus when I was little so I thought I would try this app out. The cool thing about this, is that you can add a picture to go along with your poem. I say, if you like Twitter or Facebook, you should check this app out.

New Apps: 8/3/13

  • TV Guide; I had this app a while ago, but found I never really watched TV so I deleted it. Now that it's summer, I'm watching TV all the time. I really like this app because I can track my favorite shows on the watchlist so I know when they're going to be on. It also shows you all the new shows that will be on that night, as well as a normal TV guide.
  • Splyce; I don't get this app at all. All it does is play your music. I don't even know what it's supposed to do. I think it's a useless app and it's not even worth you time.
  • Tabs; This one is for all you guitar players out there. I totally suck at guitar, but I keep trying anyway. This app provides you with tabs and chords of your favorite songs. And if you don't know how to play a chord in the song, they show you. Of course, you don't have to get the app to use their services. Their website is here. But I would definitely check out the app if you're into playing guitar.
  • Grid; This app is basically what the name is. It's a giant grid, that you get to build. It sounds like it could be a game, but it's not. You create different boxes and add information to them. One can be a picture, another a location, and the next one a text. All these boxes are connected to create a grid. Pretty simple. It's a great way to store information.
  • StudyBlue; I haven't officially used this app yet, but I did peek inside. This creates online flashcards, notes, study guides and quizzes, all to help you study. Now everything you need to pass the test will be in one place. I think it's an amazing app, and I'm looking forward to using it this school year.

New Apps: 7/27/13

I've been downloading quite a few apps recently. Most of them I don't really like, so bare with me.

  • RunKeeper; We all know I have a thing for fitness apps. This app, as you can probably tell by the name, tracks your runs. The different things about this app though is that it also creates workout plans for you. There's a variety of goals you can choose from, like I chose the Beginner 5k. The only bad thing about the plans is that the days are preset, you can't choose what days work best for you.
  • YourExtraLife; I thought this app would be really cool. It gives you challenges that you do in real life and you post pictures proving you did that challenge. However, I don't find myself doing any of the things.
  • Angry Birds; Who doesn't love Angry Birds? This is the Star Wars edition. I have to say, I love this one much more than the original.
  • Soundwave; This app is like a look into everyone's iPod. You can see what everyone is listening to. It's a great way to find new bands you like. You can also see what music other people like and what kind of music people like in a specific area.
  • Over; This is one of the many photo editing apps out there. It includes a variety of different fonts you can use to spice up your pictures. I would probably love this app if it had filters and other cool things. But I still prefer my PicLab app.
  • StubleUpon; This app is for all of you who like to find new things on the web. It's kind of like Pinterest. You discover new web pages that you like. I still think Pinterest is much better. But for those of you who are always looking for new things to check out, you should definitely check out this app.
  • MTV; Let's face it, we all watch MTV. I, personally, only watch it for Ridiculousness and Teen Wolf. And since I am never able to watch the new episodes when they air, I thought this app would be a great idea. Unfortunately, my cable provider is not listed, which means I can't unlock full episodes. Therefore I no longer have a use for this app.
  • Travel Guides; I thought this app would be a great way to find new things to do in my city. Unfortunately, they have such a tiny list of cities. So I have decided to use it to plan my dream vacations to the cities they have on there. At least I'll get some use out of it.

New Apps: 7/20/13

  • Triposo; This app is a travel guide kind of app. You have the ability to download different guides based on states or cities. Like I downloaded one for Utah and another for Denver. I think this app is really great if you plan on traveling. It seems like they have guides for every where. It shows you great places to eat and things to do and a whole bunch of stuff that's great to know when you're traveling.
  • Candy Crush; I know I mentioned this a while ago, but I deleted it. Until I started playing my dad's game. I kind of got addicted. I was playing this game so much during my road trip. I probably should stop. I'm on level 76 and it's only been like 2 weeks. I will admit I have a problem.
  • Day One; I have wanted this app forever. I just wasn't up for buying it. But then the app store put it up for free in celebration of their 5th anniversary, and I was all over it. This is a journal app. You write up your little post, add tags, and the part I like is that it tracks where you write at and the weather there.
  • Matchbook; We all love food. Especially me. I'm also open to trying new restaurants. This app helps me remember all these different place I want to try. You are able to use your location to find restaurants, which is great because you can find place you didn't even know about.

My Favorite Apps: part 2

This is the second part of my favorite apps. Once again if I don't mention an app, it doesn't mean I don't like it. It just means it's not my favorite go-to app that I must have or I will die.
  • YouTube; Every night I use this app to watch all the videos from my subscriptions. I would probably die without this app.
  • Pinterest; This is how I pin stuff 99% of the time. Whenever I'm bored I'll just go on Pintereest and look for things for #pinterestsunday
  • Bloglovin'; Without this app I would never be able to follow all my favorite blogs. I'm way to lazy to go look at every single blog and this just puts it right in front of me.
  • Blogger; My key to blogging on the go. Without this, I wouldn't be able to blog anything if I wasn't at home.
  • Capture; This is my key to video sharing. This is basically how I upload some of my little clips to YouTube. I haven't really upload much yet, but this is how I'll be uploading my videos on vacation.
  • PicLab; I would die without this thing. I use this to edit every single picture I take on my phone. I would not be able to survive if I didn't have this app helping me edit.

My Favorite Apps: part 1

These are all of the games I have on my iPhone so I thought I would tell you my favorites. If I don't mention a game, it's because it's not one of my favorites. That doesn't mean I don't play it or I don't like it. I'm only mentioning the games I'm in love with and obsessed with.
  • Temple Run 2; I think this is way better than regular Temple Run. The graphics are better and the game in general is just better.
  • PvZ; This was a free game a while back and I am so glad I bought it because I'm addicted. I literally would not put it down for hours.
  • Temple Run Oz; So I know I just raved about Temple Run 2, but I play this one so much more. I love how you can switch worlds. Plus, I'm obsessed with Oz. If I had to pick I would definitely choose this one.
  • Tetris Blitz; When I downloaded this game, I wasn't sure I was going to like it because I don't really like original Tetris. But can I just say this thing is AMAZING. Whenever I am waiting, this is always the game I go for.
  • Tapped Out; Normally I never have time for these games where you build your own world. I guess since schools out I get to play it more. I'm actually surprised I play this so much.
  • Fruit Ninja; This game is super addicting. It's like once you die, you have to come back and try again. Plus it's a really great amazing awesome wonderful game.

New Apps: 6/29/13

  • Lockerz; I've had this app before. In fact I might have had it before I had Pinterest. This is a lot like Pinterest. You like things you like and put them into different groups. So it basically is Pinterest. The only exception being, you can get points and then go to their store and get discounts with your points. So if you like Pinterest, I would recommend this app.
  • Cloth; This is sort of like your own personal look book. You get to put together outfits, take pictures of them, and then leave them for reference. You also get to sort them into what you would wear them for, like vacation or work. I think this would come in handy when school starts, so I could just pick an outfit and go.
  • Dujour; Another fashion app. This app is one where you share your outfits. You take pictures of your outfit and there are different frames so you can create a collage of all the different parts of your outfit. I haven't decided if I like this yet, but chances are I will end up deleting it.

New Apps: 6/22/13

  • Viggle; Viggle is an app where you can get points for watching TV shows. I thought this would be perfect for me since I am spending the next week watching all the shows I need to catch up on. The great thing about this is that you get to redeem your points for real prizes, like gift cards. You get gift cards for watching TV, I mean who wouldn't like that.
  • Nike + iPod; This isn't an app you can download from the store. This happens to be built into iPhones and iPods. It tracks the time you workout. It also plays your music while you workout. It's pretty simple, really basic. It's not really a special app, but I'm going to try to use it again.
  • Figr; I thought this app would be a really great way to create new outfits and explore different looks. I've tried using it multiple time, but I seem to keep having problems with it. I tried to create an account with my Twitter, but it won't let me. Now I've created one to with my email but try to share my creations to Twitter, it won't let me. Apparently, the app doesn't like Twitter. For the most part the app is good. I think eventually I'll be able to share some creations with you guys
  • EventBrite; Another one of my re-downloads. I'm not sure if I like this app. The great thing about it is that it tells you what is going on in your area. The thing I don't like about it is, it includes EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. Every little event and seminar is listed. I guess that's great if you like that sort of thing. I wish there was a way to filter the events. Then I would like the app a lot more.
  • GAIN Yoga; I have been using this app almost every single day. It's really great. I've been looking for a good yoga app and I think I have found it. This app helps you to create your own personalized yoga workout. You select the days you would like to workout, what you are trying to accomplish (fat loss, muscle, health), your skill level and the length of the workout. If your not the plan kind of person, you can create individual workouts, personalized like the plan.
  • Daily Yoga; Another yoga app. I wasn't impressed with this one as much. I feel like in this app, you have to buy more of the programs through in app purchases than the last app. However these yoga programs are still good and maybe are more suited for you than the last app. I would definitely check it out if you are interested in yoga.

New Apps: 6/15/13

Today I have 4 apps. 2 of them are re-downloads.

  1. Keek; This is one of my re-downloads. The app is really good, I just don't find myself using it. I never post any videos. Maybe I will now since it's summer and I'll be going on vacation but so far I'm not using. However, I do recommend it for people who are also taking pictures and videos with their phones.
  2. Bird Zapper; This was the app of the week, last week. The game is kind of weird. You have a choice of ways you can play. Single player or multiplayer, battle or race, and 3,4, or 5 rows. Like every other game the object is to win/beat your opponent. What you want to do is create groups of 3 or more birds and slice through it with your finger. The hard part is the rows keep moving and at different speeds. It's actually quite entertaining.
  3. Pocket; I first came across this app when I downloaded to for my mac. It comes in handy. I always end up bookmarking things when I don't have time to read them. Now I can just mark them with this app and come back to the later. It also works in conjunction with other apps, like Twitter. And you can email links to your account. I will be using this forever.
  4. Tapped Out; If you couldn't tell from the picture, this is a Simpson's game. It's kind of like all those other games where you build your own city. Basically, you have to rebuild the Simpson's world. This is the other one of my re-downloads. I found the first time I didn't really play it much, but now I play it all the time, especially since I'm out of school and have nothing better to do.

New Apps: 6/8/13

I don't have that many new apps this week. In fact I only have three. I just couldn't find that many apps that I wanted to download.

  • Snoopy Coaster; This was last weeks featured app. Now I am a sucker for Snoopy and all of his friends so I had to download it. I wasn't sure I was going to like the game at first, but now I kind of do. It's not my favorite game but it's still fun. You get to take Snoopy and his friends on a roller coaster. On your way, you collect power ups and coins and try to hit balloons and kites. You have to jump from one track to the other, so try not to fall off.
  • SongKick; Songkick is a great concert app. It scans the music on your phone and tracks the artists so you know when they have a concert. I think it's great, especially since I want to go to more concerts with my friends.
  • EverPlaces; So this is going to be my first bad review. I actually was unable to try this app. Every time I tried to open it, the app would just close. So unfortunately I guess this is my review.

New Apps: 6/1/13

  • FxCamera; I wasn't too impressed with this app. It's a photo editing app. They have pretty basic filters. I already have similar ones on other apps. The one original thing this app does is voice pictures. I really have no use for those, nor do I want them. So I'm probably going to delete this app.
  • Camera Bag; Another photo editing app. Once again I'm not that impressed. This one does have a few different filters that I don't already have, so I will probably keep it. Unlike the other app, the only thing this app has is filters.
  • Viddy; I have finally found a video sharing app! As I mentioned last week, I was looking for a video sharing app for my road trip. (More information to come!) I really like this one because it has different filters and you can add music. I haven't posted again yet, but I will share it once I do. I think this might be better than Keek, but I 'll probably download Keek again and just upload my videos from viddy.
  • Capture; This is YouTube's video sharing app. It makes it easier to upload videos to YouTube. I will probably be using this on my trip too. I've also used it already, so check out my videos on my account: TakeMeToSomeday.
  • 30/30; This app is amazing for time management. It's like a timer that you can customize. You get to create personal lists of activities and select how long you want to do each activity. The great thing is that it keeps repeating the lists until you stop it, so you don't have to keep reseting it. I use it for studying and running. (20 minutes of studying + 5 minute break and 10 minutes of running + 1 minute break)
  • Nook; I've had this app before, but I've never downloaded any books before. Now that it's summer I thought I would read more, so I've downloaded this app. It's a great, basic reading app. The only thing I don't like about it is I can't reach the Nook store from the app.
  • Bookstore; I downloaded this app for the same reason as the Nook app. I was a little disappointed that I have to leave the app to download eBooks, which is the main reason I downloaded this app. I will most likely delete this app.
Sorry this post was mostly apps I didn't like. There aren't that many new apps that I like.  If you have any new apps you think I should try feel free to leave them in the comments.

New Apps: 5/25/13

So as you can see from my picture, I have a few more apps than usual this week. I kind of went on an "app shopping spree" last night. That being said, I probably won't be going on too much about one app. But if you are interested in the app or would like to learn more, you can search iTunes, or just ask me on Twitter or in the comments for more information.
  1. PicLab: This is the app I used to edit the picture above with. So far it's pretty great. It kind of reminds me of the A Beautiful Mess app, without the doodles or sayings. I love the selection of fonts they have, and they're frames and filters look amazing! If you are looking for a great free photo app, I recommend this one.
  2. PopAGraph: This app is supposed to help make your part of your photos pop out. For example, if you wanted a picture of you to be in color, but you wanted the background behind you to be black and white. Honestly, I tried it out and I don't think it works as well as I thought it would. Maybe you guys would like it, but for me, I think I'm going to delete this app.
  3. Gipis: Another fitness app. You guys are probably getting tired of reading about all me fitness apps. This one helps you to run a marathon. There are different length setting, (5k, 1/2 marathon, marathon, etc.) so you can customize your workout to the length you would like to run. I will probably be talking about this more in later posts, especially my new fitness routine next month. And for all you who want to run a marathon, or just want to be better runners, this is the BEST app for you.
  4. Fitocracy: My last fitness app for today. I wasn't really impressed by it. Though if you have a gym you go to, (I don't) you might like it better. This app gives you challenges to do, most of which are either running or gym workouts. For every challenge you complete you get more points. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed and this is another app I will probably delete.
  5. Vine: I feel like once again I'm the last one to try this app. The reason I downloaded this was because of this vine clip here. (Its of Josh Peck, and its amazing) But I don't like it as much as everyone else. Maybe it's just because I don't know how to use it. I also deleted my keek but I think I might re-download it. I'm trying to find a good app for short video clips for my upcoming road trip. If you have any suggestions let me know.
  6. On The Road: This is the Food Network app for all the restaurants featured on their shows. I downloaded this for my road trip so I would have some new restaurants to try. I think it's a good app, but it was a little slow to load. I don't know if it was because it was my first time opening the app, if it was my internet connection, or if it was just the app. Hopefully, it will be faster, but for the most part it's a good app.
  7. Roadtrippers: Another app I downloaded for my road trip. I have to say it's a kind of a good app, but only if you are in the location you're searching. I was trying to search for things to do when I got to my destination, but it wasn't very productive. It's great if you are trying to find things to do around you, but I don't know if it's for me.
  8. UltraViolet: I consider this to be a must have for everyone during the summer, especially if you are going to be outside a lot or on vacation. It lets you now UV index at your location. This way you know what measures to take to protect your skin. I will definitely be using this all summer.
  9. Candy Crush: This game is very addictive. I ended up playing it to help my mom get past a level and then I had to go downloaded my own. What you have to do is you match up "candies" to get 3, 4, or 5 in a row. Then you just have complete the requirement the give you for that level.
  10. Angry Birds: This app requires little explantation because everyone already knows what it is. This is the space version of the original one, and as you can see, I haven't opened the app yet. I assume it's as good as the other ones. But right now it's the featured game in iTunes, which means it's free! So go download it now!
  11. Tetris Blitz: A very addictive game. This is like regular Tetris but you only have 2 minutes to clear as many rows as you can. You get coins to buy power ups. It's so much fun. It's great to play if you're waiting for someone. I definitely recommend it.

New Apps: 5/18/13

My absolute favorite new app this week is probably A Beautiful Mess. This is the only app that I will probably pay for. It's a photo editor, sort of like Instagram. They have a few different filters that you can edit your photos with. The reason I love it is because there are so many cute borders, little doodles and cute sayings you can put on your pictures. They also have different fonts so you can put your own text on the pictures. Honestly I'm not one to pay for apps, but I truly love this one. I'm a big fan of A Beautiful Mess. (If you've never seen their blog go check it out!) And I love the way the edit their pictures that they always include in their blog posts. Now I can make my pictures look just like theirs with their new app!

My next new app is recent re-download. Instagram. I know, you guys already know everything there is about Instagram. It's probably the most downloaded photo editing and photo sharing app out there. But I just thought I would include it in here. You guys can also go follow me. *hint hint* My username is AshNikki123

I've also just downloaded a new game. My friends were really into this a while ago but I never downloaded it. It's called Subway Surfers. It's kind of like Temple Run except instead of being in the middle of nowhere, you're running through the subways. You're being chased by what I assume is a security guard while trying to dodge subways and collect coins and power ups. So basically it's like another Temple Run. And if you like Temple Run I suggest checking this game out.
