Music Playlist: 7/24/13

While I was on my vacation I watched a variety of movies, including 500 Days of Summer. I fell in love with the movie even though it was nothing like I thought it was going to be. One of the things I liked so much about it was the music. Here are some of my favorite songs from the movie.

  • She's Like The Wind; Patrick Swayze
  • Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want; The Smiths
  • Here Comes Your Man; Pixies
  • Have I Been A Fool; Jack Penate
  • There Goes The Fear; Doves
  • You Make My Dreams; Hall and Oates
  • Mushaboom; Feist
  • She's Got You High; Mumm-Ra
  • Vagabond; Wolfmother
  • Sugar Town; Zooey Deschanel
  • Sweet Dispostion; The Temper Trap

#pinterestsunday DVD and CD Holder

So as I have said countless times, I have been on vacation, and I just got back. It was a long trip and I spent hours watching some pretty awesome movies. But I hated the fact that I had to take a bunch of big and bulky DVD cases. I'm a movie and music junky so I have a ton of CD and DVD cases. It can take up a lot of space, so I have decided to make a holder to store all the discs. This is great for DVDs, CDs, Blu-Ray, and any other discs you may have. A lot of the inspiration came from this pin, but I adjusted it for DVDs. What you will need is:

  • Cardstock or some other thick paper, 11" x 8 1/2"
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • DVDs
  • A Box, 6" x 6" x 6"
  • A Pencil
  • Ruler
To start off, measure out how you need to cut the cardstock. Lay your disc flat on the cardstock in one corner. You want to leave about a quarter of an inch on all sides. Use a pencil and a ruler to mark a square around your disc. This is going to be the back of your DVD sleeve. Fold the paper on both lines. For a better explanation look at the picture above.
It should look like you have two big squares, and two smaller rectangles. Cut the middle of the paper so both halves have a square and a rectangle. One halve is going to be bigger than the one you measured. Line up both halves, the smaller one on top of the other. Cut the bigger halve so it is the same size as the smaller one.
Now taking one of the halves, fold along the crease and tape the two sides. Write the movie title on the front and you are good to go. That is how you make a DVD sleeve. To hold the DVDs, put them in the box. And that is how you make a DVD holder.
I hope you enjoyed this DIY tutorial. If you have any suggestions for the next #pinterestsunday, leave a comment below or use the comment form on the left side of this blog.

Summer Lovin': School's Out!

So this is my first week out of school. I am so happy. No more test, no more homework. Unfortunately, that also means I don't get to see my friends everyday. But I still get to hang out with them, so it's okay.
To kick off the summer, I got to go to the fair. Every year I go to the county fair. We didn't go on rides this time, just walked around. They had this little butterfly thing, where you could go inside and pick up the butterflies with "nectar sticks." It was really cool. I took a lot of pictures as you can see.
I also went to my friends house. We didn't do much. We watched a few movies, went swimming. I guess after hanging out with someone so much you run out of things to do. I still enjoyed it.
I've been on a movie craze lately. I've been trying to watch a bunch of movies I've never seen before. So far I've watched Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, and The Silver Lining Playbook. I really want to try to watch a the movies I've really want to see but haven't yet. Hopefully I'll be able to do that before summer is over. I also want to catch up on all the TV shows I'm behind on. I have Glee, The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, and quite a few others I need to watch.
Next to the movies, I've also been trying to read more. Maybe I'll even read a book a week. Today I just finished The Silver Linings Playbook, which is why I'm watching the movie. The review will probably be up tomorrow or Sunday. I have a ton of books I haven't read and I want to finish them before school starts again. If you guys have any book or movie recommendations let me know so I can check them out.
I also just finished shooting a haul video which I will upload next week. And I have been doing a TON of DIYs for #pinterestsunday. I made cookie brownies and a book crate and more, so be sure to look out for those.

I don't have that many favorites this month. Well at least I don't think so. I also don't have any fashion favorites, which I find kind of weird. As you can see, all but one thing is a beauty favorite. So I will just get on with telling you about them.

  1. e.l.f. Golden Bronzer; I have been using this as a bronzer because it gives my face a nice glow. But I have been using it more as a highlighter down my nose and across my cheekbones. It's very shimmery, but it does give you a nice glow.
  2. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in 109; This is my favorite summer lipstick. It's a very nice coral color and I think it looks good with my skin tone.
  3. Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Show Off Mascara in 001 Black; I love the brush to this mascara. It's perfect for those little bottom lashes. And the formula is pretty good. It's lengthening and volumizing  I do recommend getting the waterproof version though, because I have noticed that it smudges/runs a little on the bottom lashes.
  4. e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow in Celebrity; It is a great shimmery eyeshadow. It's a very natural color with a lot of shimmer/glitter. I wear it almost everyday. It's very school and summer appropriate.
  5. e.l.f. Studio Blush in Tickled Pink; This is a great natural pink color. It's perfect to wear everyday. And the best thing about all these e.l.f products is they are only $3!
  6. Bath and Body Works Triple Moisture Body Cream in Malibu Heat; Can I just say this scent is amazing. It literally smells like summer vacation. I am in love. Plus it's moisturizing too, so that's a plus.
  7. Cover Girl TruBlend Liquid Makeup in #3 435 Medium Light; I have had this foundation forever. It is literally the only one I have that matches my skin color. The formula's pretty good too. It's made with minerals. Plus since I switched foundations my skin hasn't broken out as much, which is really good.
  8. Bath and Body Works Fine Fragrance Mist in Pure Paradise; I am in love once again. Every time I smell this stuff it reminds me of some tropical island that I have never been too. It's like bottled summer. I definitely recommend buying this right now.
  9. Tangled; So I saved this one for last just so I could do a mini rant about how much I love this movie. I am a little girl at heart and love Disney movies. (Who doesn't?) I just bought this one on Blu-Ray and I can't stop watching it. I love all the songs, especially When Will My Life Begin (featured in this week's Music Playlist). This is just such a great happy movie. I'm always cheered up by it. And the ending still makes me cry every time.
